What is a Giclee (pronounced "zhee-KLAY")? Giclee is a beautiful rendering on canvas or paper. This process is usually done on an Epson press. A Giclee represents the art in such detail that it is hard to tell the difference between the original and the fine, museum-grade print. All of the art pieces that are represented in this gallery are available in Giclee canvas and in a variety of different sizes.

This requires no frame and is done on museum-grade canvas.
Acrylic originals can be purchased online and shipped! however, pastel originals are included in our online gallery, but because of their delicate nature, they can NOT be shipped. If you are interested in a pastel original, give Marjorie a call at 970-531-8845. Pastel originals can be picked up in Grand Lake, Colorado. Please note, the online size and price, includes the frame. Original pieces come framed with museum-grade matting, conservation glass, & spacers.
Pastel is a pure pigment medium with a little binder. It is not chalk, which is a combination of limestone and dye. Pastel has been used for centuries by famous artists such as Degas, Cassat, Lautrec, Renoir, Gauguin, and Whistler.
I use soft pastel, which with some that are iridescent give the sparkle to certain portions of the paintings. My work is primarily of local scenes. This is my 18th year in the country and painting landscapes of the National Parks, the town of Grand Lake, Colorado, and many of the hiking trails in the county. I take photos of the area and work in my gallery. Plein air is difficult because I tend to work larger and the paper I use is very delicate and not good in weather conditions.
There are a variety of soft pastels that I use. Sennilier are all made in France, Art Spectrum are made in Australia, and Blue Earth are made in the USA. Each stick can run between about $8.00 and $20.00 per stick so this can be very costly. The paper is La Carte sanded paper from France. It feels like fine grit sand paper from the hardware store, but is actually crushed vegetables.
Enhanced Giclee is a piece of Marjorie's art scanned onto giclee, museum quality canvas. Marjorie then paints over the giclee canvas to create an enhanced, unique piece.
